Why Hobart

Claude Code for Hobart's emerging tech scene

Hobart has quietly become one of Australia's most interesting places to be a developer. The MyState digital team, the engineering work around Tassal's operations, the University of Tasmania's marine and Antarctic science computing, and the wave of remote-first tech workers who've relocated south have created a small but seriously capable engineering community. Claude Code is a particularly good fit for Hobart's reality: small teams who need to punch above their weight.

The big drivers for this workshop in Hobart: the UTas research and IMAS computing crowd are using Claude Code on simulation, data and visualisation work; remote-first SaaS founders who've moved from Sydney or Melbourne want to upskill before their next funding round; and Tasmania's growing creative-tech sector around Salamanca and North Hobart is wiring agentic workflows into their toolchains. The day is built to suit all three.

We run the workshop in Hobart CBD, walkable from Salamanca and a short drive from Sandy Bay, Battery Point and North Hobart. Because we only run Hobart once or twice a year, seats fill fast — reserve early. Bring a real project. The room is small, the labs are hands-on, and you'll get individual time with Rye through the day.

Frequently asked

Questions about the Hobart workshop

How much does the Claude Code workshop in Hobart cost?
A seat is A$1,295 (incl. GST) and includes the full classroom day, morning tea and lunch, all materials, take-home Claude Code templates, and 30 days of post-workshop email support. Groups of 3+ from the same team pay A$995 per seat. We also run private team workshops on request.
What should I bring on the day?
Bring a laptop (Mac or Windows), a power cable, and any code projects you'd like to work on during the labs. We'll send you a setup guide a week beforehand so Claude Code is installed and ready before you arrive. No prior Claude experience required.
What is the refund policy?
Full refund up to 14 days before the workshop. Within 14 days we'll either transfer your seat to a later date or refund 50%. If we cancel due to low numbers you get a full refund or free transfer to another city.
Are there prerequisites for the Hobart workshop?
Basic familiarity with a programming language and the command line is helpful, but the workshop is designed for all experience levels. The Hobart room often spans UTas researchers, indie SaaS founders and senior engineers from established Tasmanian businesses.
Can we book the whole classroom for our Hobart team?
Yes. Private team workshops work well for Hobart-based teams who'd prefer to host us at their office — whether that's near Salamanca, in Sandy Bay or up the highway in Glenorchy. Contact us with team size and preferred date.
What support do I get after the workshop?
Every attendee gets 30 days of post-workshop email support, the workshop's reference templates and CLAUDE.md examples, access to a private Slack-style channel with other alumni, and a printed cheat sheet you can keep at your desk.
